Queensland golfer Hannah Reeves continued the perfect start to her professional career with victory in the $50,000 Women’s NSW Open Regional Qualifier at Wagga Wagga Country Club.
Reeves came from four shots off the pace overnight to produce a sizzling final round of seven under par, 66, to win the event by one shot.
Victory at Wagga continued an amazing start to Reeves’ professional career, backing up her win in the $50,000 Regional Qualifier at Mollymook earlier in the week.
The 23-year-old was only 10 days into life as a professional when winning at her first trip to Wagga.
“I’m so happy. I played really well today,” Reeves said.
“I’m so happy to have won back-to-back.”
Reeves took a simple approach to reeling in the leaders on the second day.
“I think I’ve just done a really good job at committing to each shot and playing my own game,” she said.
“Today to come from four behind, I knew I would have to have a low round today so I just took every chance that I could and just played my own game to see where I finished up and I’m happy to finish on top.
“I’ve been playing some really good golf recently so I’m happy to see the results.”
Reeves (70, 66) finished at -10 and edged out Jueun Jang by one shot.
With Reeves already having qualified for the NSW Open with Mollymook the previous weekend, Jang and Nayeon Eum (-8) grabbed the two qualifying spots available at Wagga.
Jordan O’Brien and Wenyung Keh, who shared the overnight lead, finished in a tie for third alongside Eum at -8.
The Wagga course earned high praise from the visiting professionals, while the work of WWCC members who volunteered at the event also received special mention.
It was a big three days at the club for the WPGA Professionals, with Steff Hall taking out the Pro-Am on Wednesday afternoon.
