Victorian golfer Andrew Kelly claimed a thrilling victory in the 2025 edition of the PSC Insurance Wagga Wagga Pro Am.
Kelly joins an exclusive group as a two-time winner of the Wagga Wagga Pro Am, backing up his 2019 victory by outlasting Nathan Barbieri in a play-off.
Kelly shot a 10 under par opening round 62 on Thursday to hold a three-shot overnight lead before the challengers came thick and fast on Friday.
Barbieri was the best of those and established a handy lead late on Friday afternoon before Kelly came again to tie it up at -13 and force the event to a play-off.
Both players were sent to the 9th tee, with Kelly ultimately holeing a birdie putt to take victory.
Kelly won a rain-affected Pro Am in 2019 in circumstances where he concedes he was somewhat fortunate to get the win so he was pleased to take victory in more ‘legitimate’ fashion this time around.
“This one feels pretty good,” Kelly said.
“Last time I was pretty lucky, just for it to be rain-shortened so this is kind of a bit more legitimate, so it feels really good.
“It’s a good place to win. I come here every year with a lot of friends so yeah, it feels great.”
Kelly’s victory capped off a brilliant three days at the Wagga Wagga Country Club.
Former professional turned media personality Mark Allen hosted the Pro Am Gala Dinner on Wednesday night, which also featured special guest, former AFL champion Brendon Goddard.
The WWCC greens team earned high praise for their efforts in turning the course out in spectacular fashion on Thursday morning after 50 millimetres of rain fell in the previous 24 hours.
Thursday night was the Highway Image Super Shot, which was taken out by host, Jack Wilson, who put his shot to 54 centimetres of the hole, winning the event for Phil Collins’ Supermix Concrete.
The Thursday night also featured a performance from comedian, Lawrence Mooney, as well as an entertaining discussion from Goddard and Marcus Fraser.
